New Look at Matt Damon in ‘Elysium’

For as much as studios love to tease and promote their fanboy-targeted films in advance, it’s interesting how quiet Sony has been when it comes to District 9 helmer, Neill Blomkamp‘s follow-up Elysium. The sci-fi film seems to take something of an Astro Boy meets WALL-E approach to a story of the conflicting lives of the people living on a ruined Earth and those populating a luxurious space station and today we get our second look at the film by way of a second look at a bald, gun-toting Matt Damon.

Here’s the full synopsis:

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium – but that doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. Max (Matt Damon) agrees to take on a life-threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

The cast also includes Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Sonia Braga and Diego Luna.

The film still won’t hit theaters until August 2013 (it was previously set for a Mar. 1, 2013 release) so we are still a ways off, but to not even have a teaser yet is a bit surprising.
