Two New TV Spots for ‘Les Miserables’

I only skimmed through the first of these two new TV spots for Les Miserables, but the visuals alone present what looks to be a rather powerful film and while Lincoln has some real quality to it, if this thing can overpower the audience with emotion and grandeur I still don’t see what can stop it from piling it on at the Oscars.

To my knowledge it has still not yet been screened for critics in any market, not even secretly, so word is still mum as to its quality, but it certainly is capturing my attention.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Miserables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Hugh Jackman plays ex-prisoner Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Russell Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Anne Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
