Jamie Foxx to Play Electro in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’

Variety brings word that Jamie Foxx is in negotiations to play Electro in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and while the studio wouldn’t confirm Foxx’s role, Foxx himself tweeted the following after the news broke:

Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well.

The official Facebook page for the film wasn’t shy about posting a screen capture of the tweet in case you had any doubt.

To the best of my knowledge, Electro is a villain that gets hit by lightning and can then control electricity. Where the story will go from there is unknown.

Foxx joins Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Shailene Woodley in the upcoming feature, which is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2014. Marc Webb is returning to direct.

Foxx will be seen in Django Unchained later this year and will play the President of the United States in Roland Emmerich‘s White House Down alongside Channing Tatum and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Emmerich tweeted out the first look at Foxx in White House Down recently and can be seen directly below.
