Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Set to Host 2013 Golden Globes

We knew Ricky Gervais wouldn’t be back at the Golden Globes this year, especially after last year’s show showed the comic had been watered down and handcuffed. In an attempt to bring a little more life into the show that is more of a drunken celebrity party than anything else, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will co-host this year’s 2013 Golden Globe Awards.

Fey and Poehler used to dominate the set of “Saturday Night Live” together, teamed for Baby Mama and both have highly rated shows of their own at this time — Fey with “30 Rock” and Poehler on “Parks and Recreation”.

If you ask me, we’re looking at a solid choice and it’s nice to see a couple of women selected. After all, I have said for a while now, Ellen DeGeneres is the best Oscar host I’ve ever seen and while the show will be wildly different than when Gervais was at the top of his game at the 2011 Globes, I expect these two will make it, at the very least, tolerable considering it’s not like these things are hot beds for laugh-out-loud hilarity.

The show will air live on NBC on January 13, 2013, only three days after the Oscar nominations are announced and, it is expected, two days after the Critics Choice Awards, which have yet to secure the January 11 slot, but last I heard were leaning in that direction.
