By including sketches by director Ridley Scott, concept art and early effects progressions, this visual effects breakdown of Prometheus released by MPC is quite impressive. Here’s the description:
MPC’s breakdown shows how we created the alien planet LV-223, space environments, the human crew and alien space-crafts, an explosive crash scene sequence, plus bringing to life the alien ‘Hammerpede’.
The music accompanying the piece is “A Planet to Conquer” by Philippe Rey.
Oscarwise, Prometheus won’t be competing in any of the major categories, but effects, sound categories and possibly production design are certainly up for grabs. Check out the video below.
