.) No, the picture above isn’t a shot from some random “Two and a Half Men” episode. It’s Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan in the first official still from Scary Movie 5. Get a full-sized look right here.
.) Kate Bosworth has joined Jason Statham and James Franco in the action thriller Homefront. She’ll play the meth-addicted sister of Franco’s character, a local drug lord disrupting the quiet lifestyle of a former DEA agent (Statham). That’s probably not the best idea. Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury) directs a script from none other than Sylvester Stallone. [THR]
.) Roman Polanski will direct an adaptation of the Tony-winning play Venus in Fur, which is described as an erotic black comedy. It will be filmed in French and reunite Polanski with actress Emmanuelle Seigner (Frantic, The Ninth Gate). Louis Garrel (The Dreamers) will play the male lead. Polanski co-wrote the script with the play’s author, David Ives, and will fit the production into his schedule while the script is being completed for the previously announced D.
.) John Travolta is mulling over the idea of starring in the remake of John Woo‘s The Killer, as well as a biopic of legendary football coach Vince Lombardi. The English-language remake of The Killer will be directed by South Korean helmer John H. Lee and shot in 3D, while Woo is sticking around to produce. Woo and Travolta certainly have history together with Face/Off and Broken Arrow, so I guess the casting would make sense on that level.
As for Lombardi, Travolta has a personal connection to the role. Travolta’s father, Salvatore Travolta, was at one point coached by Lombardi. Robert De Niro circled the role a few years ago, but that flirtation seems to have passed. Travolta also said the John Gotti movie, where he’s attached to play the notorious crime boss, is still in development. “The script still isn’t right yet,” he said. [Screen Daily]
.) Jorma Taccone (Macgruber) will direct the action-comedy Spy Guys for New Line, with fellow Lonely Islanders Akiva Schaffer and Andy Samberg attached to produce. The plot revolves around a former CIA operative who is framed and becomes an enemy of the state, forcing him to enlist in the help of his average Joe buddies. They, in turn, also become wanted men, and everyone goes on the run together and attempt to clear their names. [THR]
