I’ll be seeing David O. Russell‘s Silver Linings Playbook on Sunday morning and am hoping the film is able to deliver more than its rather rudimentary plot line suggests.
Based on Matthew Quick’s debut novel, the story centers on a former high school history teacher (Bradley Cooper) who has just been released from a mental institution and placed in the care of his mother. Not one to be discouraged, Pat believes he has only been on the inside for a few months — rather than four years — and plans on reconciling with his estranged wife. Refusing to accept that their apart time is actually a permanent separation, Pat spends his days and nights feverishly trying to become the man she had always desired.
Copper is joined by Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Chris Tucker, Jacki Weaver and Julia Stiles in the film which will be hitting theaters on November 21, and with its upcoming debut this weekend in Toronto we’ll get the first indication on whether or not we’re looking at an Oscar contender.
With that said, here is a rather dull first poster for the film courtesy of Fandango, which I will say doesn’t exactly get me excited to see it and will doubtfully have any kind of affect on passersby seeing it in cinemas. Or am I wrong?
