Watch: ‘The Company You Keep’ Trailer with Robert Redford and Shia LaBeouf

It seems it’s become Shia LaBeouf all day, every day around here with Lawless hitting theaters yesterday and today we get the first trailer for The Company You Keep. Here LaBeouf stars alongside director Robert Redford and co-stars Susan Sarandon, Terrence Howard, Anna Kendrick, Stanley Tucci, Chris Cooper and Nick Nolte with the film set to have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in a week, followed by a North American premiere at the Toronto Film Festival a couple of days later.

Sony Classics has already picked it up for domestic distribution and I have to assume that, depending on how it does with critics in Venice and Toronto, it could get a late year Oscar-qualifying release.

The film is a thriller centered on the story of Jim Grant (Redford), a former Weather Underground activist wanted for murder who goes on the run when a young reporter (LaBeouf) exposes his true identity. Sparking a nationwide manhunt, Grant sets off on a cross-country journey to clear his name.

Redford hasn’t really hit it out of the park in recent years with the lackluster results of The Conspirator and Lions for Lambs so it would be nice to see him get a solid film under his belt and with material like this he may have something.

I expect I’ll be seeing this one in Toronto myself and am excited to see what Sony Classics picked up. Give the trailer a watch below and let me know what you think and for more on the film, including a gallery of images, click here.
