First Poster for M Night Shyamalan’s ‘After Earth’

UPDATE: As was pointed out in the comments, apparently this is a fanmade poster by Hopko Designs that originate on their Tumblr blog. Sorry.

A poster for M Night Shyamalan‘s After Earth has arrived on the heels of that viral video that debuted last weekend serving up our first couple of introductions to the sci-fi feature that’s set to hit theaters on June 7, 2013.

The poster features Jaden Smith off in the distance as he plays Kitai, the 13-year-old son to General Cypher Raige (played by Jaden’s father Will Smith). Raige and Kitai play a pair of humans that have crash-landed on Earth one thousand years after humanity had to abandon the planet for their new home, a planet called Nova Prime.

As his father lies dying in the cockpit, Kitai must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon. His whole life, Kitai has wanted nothing more than to be a soldier like his father. Today, he gets his chance. Perhaps that’s the moment we’re looking at in this poster and the broken pieces are their rescue beacon forcing them to remain on the planet forever. I don’t know.

Like I said, the pic hits theaters on June 7 and I expect we’ll see the first trailer some time around the August 3 release of Total Recall.
