Watch: Trailer for ‘The Silver Linings Playbook’ from David O. Russell

Of the footage for three upcoming Weinstein Co. films I saw in Cannes (read about that The Silver Linings Playbook, largely for how “normal” it looked, there wasn’t anything that jumped out at me making me want to say, Oh, I’ve got to see this!

The film is based on Matthew Quick’s debut novel and centers on former high school history teacher Pat Peoples (Bradley Cooper) who has just been released from a mental hospital and is trying to settle back into day-to-day life. Believing he’s been gone for only a few months rather than four years, he attempts to reconcile with his estranged wife and ultimately attempting to become the man she had always wanted him to be.

Along with Cooper, the film co-stars Robert De Niro, Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Tucker, Jacki Weaver, Julia Stiles, John Ortiz and Shea Whigham.

Now when I say it was the “least impressive” this is because it was up against Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained and Paul Thomas Anderson‘s The Master, which is to say it didn’t have much of a shot. It still stands a good chance at being a top quality film and perhaps my lowered expectations will help in this instance.

Check out the trailer directly below, the film hits theaters on November 21.
