I try and avoid all trailers, but last night before my screening of Rock of Ages, the trailer for The Great Gatsby was one of two trailers they showed. Considering I know the story already I wasn’t too bothered seeing it and it was better than seeing it for the first time on my computer.
Directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton the film is an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s book of the same name and I must say, I really liked what I saw last night, at least visually. Considering the story is a good one, all that matters now is that Luhrmann and co-writer Craig Pearce haven’t betrayed Fitzgerald’s novel. My main curiosity is just how much voice over will be used. I’m hoping very little, at least beyond the opening moments.
The Great Gatsby will be released on December 25 in 3-D and along with the principals mentioned above, the film co-stars Jason Clarke, Isla Fisher and Gemma Ward and today Hey You Guys delivers three new pictures from the film. One I’ve already included directly above and two more just below.
If you haven’t yet seen the trailer you may want to give it a look right here, it definitely drew a lot of conversation when it was first released.
