What I Watched, What You Watched: Installment #145

Since I am in Cannes you have been getting daily updates on what I’ve been watching and I even mentioned seeing Dr. No on the beach already, but I felt I’d get in the spirit of this weekly feature and at least offer a few thoughts before asking what you watched…

Dr. No (1962)

I can’t say which of the Sean Connery Bond films is my favorite, but the top three would be Dr. No, From Russia with Love and Goldfinger… no big surprises there. I am expecting to watch From Russia with Love on the beach this coming Monday night should the weather cooperate so I’ll have a better gauge on my feelings after seeing it again, but watching Dr. No in such an environment as I did was really something special. It spoke to the power of movies and how comforting a good movie can be and how communal they can be.

I also couldn’t help but note how many people were at that screening and how quiet everyone was. The wind began to blow, it got a bit chilly, but walk-outs were at a minimum and those that stayed weren’t saying a word. It’s a pleasure to watch movies with people that respect those around them.

Now it’s your turn, what did you watch? Any trips to the theater this week?
