Pamela McClintock over at The Hollywood Reporter went straight down the line when it comes to upcoming films set up over at Paramount Pictures when speaking with Paramount Film Group president Adam Goodman, and he offered updates on each including Transformers 4, Top Gun 2, the new Jack Ryan film with Chris Pine and Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah. Here’s what he had to say:
Transformers 4: “The story is going in a different direction now. Ehren Kruger [who wrote the past two Transformers movies] is writing it for us, and we’re starting to engage, but I can’t say anything more.”
Another Mission: Impossible: “We’ll likely make a Top Gun sequel with Tom Cruise first. Jerry Bruckheimer would produce, with Tony Scott returning to direct. All parties are moving ahead. We’ve hired Peter Craig (The Town) to write the script.”
Jack Ryan: “We have a great script that David Koepp and Adam Cozad worked on. We’re going to shoot the movie after Star Trek. I think the idea is to try and get it for 2013.”
Noah: “It will be a big, robust production and will have tremendous scale. It’s the perfect combination of casting [Russell Crowe, Saoirse Ronan and Jennifer Connelly] and a remarkable adventure. This isn’t what you think of when you think of Darren, but it will be very true to him as a filmmaker. It will be PG-13 and will likely cost around $125 million.”
I think it’s important to note the names of the cast members in Noah above have been placed in brackets, which is to say Goodman didn’t actually say these names. Ronan and Connelly have already been rumored to be involved, but McClintock’s article doesn’t necessarily confirm they are in the film. I emailed Pamela to get confirmation, but she has yet to reply.
