Some people were wondering why I didn’t include Wes Anderson‘s Moonrise Kingdom in my list of 25 Potential 2013 Best Picture Oscar Contenders and the answer is quite simple, Anderson’s films just aren’t looked at in terms of Best Picture. Instead I will actually be looking to add Ridley Scott’s Prometheus to the list well before I add Moonrise Kingdom, but that isn’t stopping me from really looking forward to seeing what Anderson is going to bring us with his latest feature, which arrives in theaters on May 25.
Today we get a look at the first poster for the film (via Moviefone) which stars Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, Harvey Keitel and Bob Balaban.
The story is set on an island off the coast of New England in the 1960s and follows the young boy and girl you see on the front of the poster as they fall in love. When they are moved to run away together, various factions of the town mobilize to search for them and the town is turned upside down.
We’ve already seen a trailer for the film, and if you missed it click here to give it a look. This is a film I hope will play at Cannes before its late May debut. The earlier I can see it the better.
