Focus Features has finally loosened the reigns and we have four brand new images from Anna Karenina, the latest film to bring director Joe Wright and star Keira Knightley together on the heels of Pride & Prejudice and Atonement. This time they set out to tell a new adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s 1878 novel with a script by Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love) and they are joined by fellow cast members Aaron Johnson, Jude Law, Matthew Macfadyen, Domhnall Gleeson, Alicia Vikander, Kelly Macdonald, Ruth Wilson, Olivia Williams and Emily Watson.
The is set in late-19th-century Russia high-society and explores the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children. As Anna (Knightley) questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community.
In these new pics you’ll see first looks at Knightley in the title role along with Jude Law as Alexei Karenin and Aaron Johnson as Count Vronsky. The film does not yet have a release date, but is expected to hit theaters this fall.
