The first two Underworld movies are guilty pleasures of mine right up there with the first two Mummy movies, but like the third Mummy movie, I was not a fan of the third Underworld. But with Underworld Awakening set to hit theaters on January 20, 2012, the franchise brings back the original “death dealer”, Selene (Kate Beckinsale), and I have to admit I’m a little excited to see if it will add to that guilty pleasure list even if the fact it’s being released in 3D is incredibly annoying.
That said, last night Screen Gems sent over a third trailer for the film, which co-stars Michael Ealy, Stephen Rea and Charles Dance. The film follows Selene as she escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan (werewolf) clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.
