I have no real idea what to expect from Casa de mi Padre, a Spanish language comedy featuring Will Ferrell as Armando Alvarez a rancher who has worked his father’s ranch in Mexico his entire life but now faces financial strains. He finds help when his younger brother Raul (Diego Luna) shows up with his new fiancee, Sonia (Genesis Rodriguez) and pledges to settle all his father’s debts. However, things don’t work out as planned when Armando falls for Sonia and Raul’s business dealings turn out to be less than legit.
Along with Ferrell, Luna and Rodriguez, the film also stars Gael Garcia Bernal as Mexico’s most feared drug lord, the mighty Onza.
This could end up being an awful film which is why it’s being released by Pantelion Films rather than being picked up by a major studio, or it could be a diamond in the rough. We’ll know more once we get closer to its March 16, 2012 release date when it is expected to hit theaters nationwide, but for now check out the trailer and see what you think.
