New Trailer for Oscar Contender ‘Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close’

The last Oscar contender of 2011 that most critics will see is Stephen Daldry‘s Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and in front of my screening of New Year’s Eve last night I saw the first trailer that was released for the film and boy does it work. I want to see this film right now. Yes, it looks like it will play on traditionally emotional beats, but it just looks good to me and now a second trailer (via Apple) has arrived.

Extremely Loud is an adaptation of the Sept. 11-themed novel by Jonathan Safran Foer with a script by Eric Roth (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and centers on Oskar Schell (Thomas Horn), a nine-year-old amateur inventor, jewelry designer, astrophysicist, tambourine player and pacifist, as he searches New York for the lock that matches a mysterious key left by his father (Tom Hanks) when he was killed in the September 11 attacks.

Along with Horn and Hanks, the film co-stars Sandra Bullock, John Goodman, Viola Davis, Jeffrey Wright and Max von Sydow. The film hits limited theaters on Christmas Day and will then expand wide on Jan. 20, 2012.

Check out the new trailer, which I actually have not watched yet, below and let me know what you think. Are you sold on this one as much as I am?
