A Second Trailer for Martin Scorsese’s ‘Hugo’

As you can see above, the latest poster for Martin Scorsese‘s Hugo pays homage to silent film star Harold Lloyd in his iconic moment hanging from the clock in Safety Last!, a film I saw for the first time two years ago as I was making my way through the IMDb Top 250. It was the last film I had not seen on the list and since it is only available on [amazon asin=”B000B5XORA” text=”DVD for $99.99″] I had to wait until it played on TCM’s Summer of the Stars.

Scorsese’s film is said to be an ode to the silent era and a film primarily for cinema lovers, which tells me it certainly isn’t for everyone. The question is how it will play to mainstream audiences given this fact as reviews of the work print screening from the New York Film Festival reveal silent filmmaker Georges Melies‘s classic 1902 feature A Trip to the Moon plays into the film’s plot. Have you seen it? If you haven’t, don’t worry, I’ve included it below the new Hugo trailer if you have 12 minutes to spare.

That said, here is the latest trailer for Hugo, which you can watch in high definition at Apple. Shot in 3D, the film is based on Brian Selznick’s award-winning best-seller, “The Invention of Hugo Cabret” and tells the story of Hugo Cabret (Asa Butterfield), a resourceful boy whose quest to unlock a secret left to him by his father will transform him and all those around him, and reveal a safe and loving place he can call home.

The film hits theaters on November 23 and co-stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ben Kingsley, Jude Law, Ray Winstone, Christopher Lee, Helen McCrory, Richard Griffiths, Frances de la Tour, Emily Mortimer and Michael Stuhlbarg. You can get a larger look at that new poster right here.
