Watch a Clip from ‘Carnage’ Featuring Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly

Very shortly I will be posting my updated Best Picture predictions following the trailer for Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, a couple of Twitter posts related to Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar, a few comments I’ve seen related to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Roman Polanski’s Carnage opening the New York Film Festival last night.

The latter is obviously the focus here as I have added three new images from the film to my gallery here as well as received a clip to preview, which is featured at the bottom of this post.

As for the screening, it would appear the film is proving to be a bit divisive. Some people are calling it “hilarious” while Sasha Stone from AwardsDaily.com tweets, “Anyone who saw Carnage on stage will miss those performers in every one of the parts, even Waltz. But if you didn’t, you might enjoy.”

A lot of critics, in fact, are comparing it to Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award-winning play and I can’t help but wonder, as someone that has not seen the play, if it will play that much differently for me. I have high hopes, after all it’s one of my most anticipated films of the second half of the year. That said, I did not watch the clip below. I want to remain as “in the dark” as possible before I finally see the film and there’s no telling when that may be as the film doesn’t hit theaters until December 16.

I can tell you the clip below features the film’s four leads — Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly — as they play two pairs of parents, one of whose child has hurt the other at a public park, who meet to discuss the matter in a civilized manner. However, as the evening goes on, the parents become increasingly childish, resulting in the evening devolving into chaos.

Watch the clip below and browse the gallery right here and stay tuned as my updated Best Picture predictions are just around the corner.
