New ‘Shame’ Clip Shows Brandon’s Attention to the Details

This new clip from Shame isn’t spoiler material but it does give you a good look at Michael Fassbender‘s character Brandon and James Badge Dale as his character’s boss, David. You’ll see how David is more of a frat boy type, walking around with a hard on, while Brandon is calm, cool and collected as well as quite attentive. However, what I like most is what’s left unsaid in this clip and how Brandon goes from the shy mysterious type to the steely eyed Patrick Bateman type, never entirely giving much away. Had the clip continued for another 1-2 minutes you would learn even more about Brandon’s sexually obsessed character, but I think this is good enough.

Shame was picked up by Fox Searchlight Pictures out of Toronto and will be hitting theaters some time in December with an expectation for a big Best Actor push for Fassbender. Check out the clip below and if you want more you can read my review out of Toronto here or check out another clip and several images from the film here.

Brandon (Fassbender) is a 30-something man living in New York who is unable to manage his sex life. After his wayward younger sister (Mulligan) moves into his apartment, Brandon’s world spirals out of control. From director Steve McQueen (Hunger), Shame is a compelling and timely examination of the nature of need, how we live our lives and the experiences that shape us.
