A New, More Traditional Poster for ‘The Ides of March’

You probably read on some other sites that George Clooney has dropped out of Steve Soderbergh‘s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. based on the 1960s television show. As of now the reason for the departure is unknown, but Warner Bros. intends to stick to the February 2012 shooting schedule. I would like to think Clooney’s latest directorial effort, The Ides of March, is so good he wants to get back behind the camera as soon as possible. And while we’re on that topic, I have a new poster for the political thriller, which I recently learned will be screening the first day of the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, one month before the film’s October 7 release date and you can be sure I will be rushing to get that review online as soon as I get back to the hotel.

The Ides of March was co-written by Clooney, Grant Heslov and Beau Willimon based on Willimon’s play “Farragut North”. The story takes place during the frantic last days before a heavily contested Ohio presidential primary, when an up-and-coming campaign press secretary (Ryan Gosling) finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to upend his candidate’s shot at the presidency. Along with Clooney and Gosling, the film co-stars Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, Max Minghella and Jeffrey Wright. Yeah, the names make it that much more appealing don’t they?

Unfortunately this latest poster isn’t as inspired as the first one (check that out here), but I still absolutely cannot wait. If you’ve yet to watch the trailer you can watch that here.
