First Official Look at Henry Cavill as Superman in ‘Man of Steel’

Warner Bros. is going the official route with their other big superhero film and this morning release the first official look at Henry Cavill as Superman in upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder. Cavill stars alongside Amy Adams as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as her editor-in-chief, Perry White, and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner star Clark Kent’s adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent.

With the pic we also get a clearer picture of the film’s villains as the release says Superman will square off against two other surviving Kryptonians, the villainous General Zod, played by Michael Shannon, and Faora, Zod’s evil partner, played by Antje Traue. Also from Superman’s native Krypton are Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s mother, played by Julia Ormond, and Superman’s father, Jor-El, portrayed by Russell Crowe. Harry Lennix will play U.S. military man General Swanwick and Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy.

So as you can see, production is underway with Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder producing and Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300) directing David S. Goyer’s script, from a story by Goyer and Nolan. I’ve included a hi-res look at Cavill from the image below and you can get a slightly larger look at the complete image in our gallery here.

Man of Steel hits theaters on June 14, 2013.
