‘Die Hard 5’ Heads to Russia with a New Director and Who Will Play John McClane’s Son?

Noam Murro (Smart People) was previously attached to direct Die Hard 5, but since that attachment has been assigned directorial duties on Warner Bros’ 300 follow-up, 300: Battle of Artemisia and it appears Die Hard duties are no longer his. A new report from Twitch says John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, Max Payne) has been offered the director’s chair and it is either his to take or leave.

It is also being reported Die Hard 5 will be set largely in Russia with John McClane (Bruce Willis) accompanied there by his son and the two drawn into a conflict with local forces.

The news was more-or-less confirmed by Variety staff writer Jeff Sneider on Twitter who also writes, “[You] should hear some of the names being kicked around for the son… think young, white, bald and badass.” Just who could he be referring to?

According to Wikipedia, John McClane Jr. (aka Jack Gennero) was born in 1984, which would make him 27 this year if they decided to operate on a strict narrative timeline. If you ask me, 30-year-old Ben Foster looks and seems like the most likely choice based on Sneider’s description. What do you think?
