A new trailer (via Metacafe) and poster have been released in promotion of New Line’s upcoming Final Destination 5, the fifth installment in the death is comin’ to getcha horror series that started 11 years ago and has racked up $220 million domestically over the course of the first four films, none of which were made for more than $26 million until the fourth installment, The Final Destination, was budgeted at $40 million.
I haven’t seen budgetary figures for Final Destination 5, but I would assume they are similar to the fourth film, which was the highest grossing of the lot, not only domestically but also overseas, pulling in $186 million worldwide. It was originally expected to end at four films, but with numbers like that and such a cheap and easy premise it only makes sense to keep things chugging along.
Final Destination 5 hits theaters on August 12 and stars David Koechner, Nicholas D’Agosto, Miles Fisher, P.J. Byrne, Ellen Wroe and Emma Bell. Check out the goods below.
