So the following TV spot for Captain America: The First Avenger just arrived and it features the discovery of the title character frozen in the ice. From what I understood, Captain America was a genetically altered super soldier first created in the 1940s and his time frozen in the ice is how the comic writers brought him into the modern age.
So first off, am I correct in that understanding, and if I am are we possibly looking at the end of this first Captain America film and potentially the after-credits scene?

Armed with his indestructible shield and and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and leader of the Avengers.
