Official Trailer for ‘The Muppets’ is Here

It wasn’t supposed to be online until this Monday, but as seems to be the trend in movie promotion in the days of the Internet, the first official, non-parody trailer for The Muppets is here in all its glory.

The return of the Jim Henson creations is set to hit theaters this Thanksgiving on November 23 and I, for one, am incredibly excited to see what they Disney has to offer as I was a huge fan of “The Muppet Show” when I was younger as well as the feature films they released back in the ’80s including The Great Muppet Caper and The Muppets Take Manhattan . However, I haven’t seen those movies in ages and really can’t remember for the life of me what they were about, I just simply know I couldn’t get enough of them. Speaking of which, I ought to head over to Netflix and add those to the queue.

As for this upcoming film, the cast includes a long list of names including Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and familiar characters such as Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and Animal. As for the plot, I added that just below the trailer. Have a look and for more information, the three parody trailers and a few posters from the film click here.

Like pretty much every trailer I post, I didn’t watch it, but I’d love to read your reactions in the comments below. Thanks to Slashfilm for the heads up.

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, The Muppets hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011.
