Watch as Samuel Fuller Auditions for ‘Godfather Part II’

From out of nowhere a piece of film history is unearthed on this June 4, 2011 as it appears no one actually knew the video below ever happened and to think there’s actual video of the occurrence makes it even more surprising.

Featured below is a video (via Criterion) of Samuel Fuller (Steel Helmet, Naked Kiss, The Big Red One) auditioning opposite Al Pacino for the role as Hyman Roth in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather: Part II. The role of Roth eventually ended up going to Lee Strasberg who ended earning an Oscar nomination for his performance as the Jewish mob boss and primary antagonist of the film. But you know all this, so I’ll just let you watch the video below for a slice of history that really comes as quite a shocker.
