Do lab monkeys actually arrive at the lab in cardboard boxes? That seems so unsafe, but if it happens in the movie it must be true and it happens in this brand new theatrical trailer for 20th Century Fox’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes starring James Franco, John Lithgow, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis, Brian Cox, Don Cheadle, David Oyelowo and Tom Felton.
The film is set in present-day San Francisco and apparently reveals the origins of the war that ultimately led to the 1968 original Charlton Heston film in which the Earth became the Planet of the Apes. Part of the big draw here is the effects work from WETA, which does look rather impressive, though after watching a little bit of this trailer I get the feeling this film may get a little too preachy on the “they’re not humans you know” angle, which could get old really quick.
