Box-Office Oracle: ‘Fast Five’ is Predicted to Start Summer 2011 Off Early and Big

I’ve been on an epic roll lately. Rio has foiled me two weekends in a row, but I think I’ve finally found the antidote. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Dwayne Johnson. Let’s break it down!
Laremy predicted the #1 movie correctly 0 Weeks In A Row
2. Rio
$295m on a production budget of $90m means we can call this one a winner.
Prediction: $18.42 million
It could be that Madea Goes to Jail was the high point for the series, and we’ll only head financially downhill from there.
Prediction: $10.78 million
A strangely polarizing film, some legit critics have come out in defense of this title. I didn’t see it. Anyone want to take up the cause?
Prediction: $10.1 million
5. Prom
$3,500 per theater feels pretty conservative. But it’s no Easy A, I’ll tell you that.
Prediction: $9.45 million
The first one was a sneaky hit, putting up weekends of $12m and then $10m, finishing with something around a 5x theatrical multiplier combined with $31m in DVD sales. Do I see that path for this one? I do not.
Prediction: $8.13 million
7. Hop
Universal timed it really well, getting an Easter bump in its fourth weekend was a treat. Overall not a massive earner, but not a disaster either.
Prediction: $7.67 million
It’s only getting 862 theaters. That’s a recipe for finishing in eight place.
Prediction: $4.5 million
Looks as though it will break $40m, but the budget was $18m. A DVD push must be in the works.
Prediction: $4.35 million
The profits from Insidious could fund the next 20 sequels to Insidious. Something to look forward to!
Prediction: $3.84 million

How say you? Is $77m too bullish? Will Rio win again, causing me to throw out my spreadsheets and go back to runes? Predictions away!
