2012 Oscar Ceremony is Set for February 26

This morning the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the key dates for the upcoming 2011 award season, which will culminate in the 2012 Oscars, set for February 26, 2012. Last year’s awards race seemed to go on forever and there was buzz about moving the Oscars to an earlier date, but that obviously didn’t happen as the 2012 Oscars will occur over the same weekend as last year’s where The King’s Speech was crowned the winner.

On top of this news I have launched the new “The Contenders” section, which is very much bare bones at the moment, though I have included a list of 82 films I currently consider potential Oscar Contenders. You can browse that list right here and browse my current 2011-2012 Awards Schedule right here as I also have dates for the Producers Guild Awards and the Directors Guild Awards, both of which will be taking place in January.

Here is the complete schedule for the upcoming Oscar season a far as the Academy is concerned.
