First Trailer for ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’… Rises

As I said only a couple of hours ago when I posted the 16-second trailer teaser, the first full trailer for 20th Century Fox’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes has arrived along with the teaser poster you see to the right and eight pieces of concept art (such as the image above), which I’ve added to the gallery here as well as at the bottom of this post, just below the trailer.

The film is directed by Rupert Wyatt and stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton and Andy Serkis pulling another role similar to Gollum in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the title character in King Kong as he plays the ape that leads the titular rise, Caesar.

The synopsis describes the film as “an origin story in the true sense of the word”. Set in present-day San Francisco, Rise of the Planet of the Apes reveals the origins of a war that ultimately led to a global apocalypse – and to Earth becoming the Planet of the Apes. Oscar-winning visual effects house WETA Digital – employing certain of the groundbreaking technologies developed for “Avatar” – will render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors.
