Michael Shannon Entertains as He Discusses Being Cast in ‘Superman’

A fun interview with Michael Shannon (“Boardwalk Empire”) from the RiverRun International Film Festival in Winston-Salem, NC is making the rounds as moderator and filmmaker Jeff Nichols chats with him regarding his Man of Steel.

The candid nature in which Shannon discusses the process is refreshing as he describes visiting Zack Snyder at his home and listening to him tell the story for 30 minutes while he gazes at hummingbirds in the backyard and sees the Rose Bowl in the distance. He describes the surreal experience saying he felt like he was on acid, and later discusses auditioning alongside Henry Cavill, who plays the new Clark Kent/Superman, and describes the trials and tribulations of trying to turn off an air conditioner.

Give the video a watch below and also tell me if I’m crazy, but doesn’t Nichols remind you a lot of Bradley Cooper? At first I thought he reminded me a lot of Snyder, whom I’ve interviewed three times, but when he asks Shannon if he’s seen the original Christopher Reeve Superman it just screamed Cooper to me.

Man of Steel will shoot this summer for a December 2012 release.
