Poster Debut for ‘The Hangover 2’

Last week I saw the short teaser trailer (watch it to the right) for The Hangover Part II in front of my Sucker Punch screening and I must say the combination of music, images and just the sheer hope it would match the comedy of the first one put a smile on my face. While the first film doesn’t really hold up as well the second time around (the length really hurts it upon repeated viewings), it was still a great film the first time I saw it.

I also think they’d be foolish to release a second trailer giving away any of the gags in the film, the teaser was spot on and actually reminded me a little of the text-only trailer I made for The Dark Knight back in ’07 when all they needed to do was give the audiences a reminder as to what was on the horizon instead of give away everything the film had to offer. I still relish in the fact I never watched a single trailer for that film before seeing it. You can watch my version of what I felt it should have been here if you weren’t a reader back then.

Of course, like then, Warner Bros. is already working hard on a trailer to spoil some of the film’s hopeful comedy, but it seems they are sticking with the same grimy motif started in that teaser with the new poster they just debuted. I’ve added it just below and you can get a larger look right here. The Hangover Part II hits theaters on May 26.

In The Hangover Part II, Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha) travel to exotic Thailand for Stu’s wedding. After the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch. However, things don’t always go as planned. What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can’t even be imagined.
