Box-Office Oracle: Mar. 18 – Mar. 20, 2011

It will be a minor miracle if I get the top slot correct this weekend. The reason for my consternation? Just odd release choices from the studios. Laremy predicted the #1 movie correctly 3 Weeks In A Row
Based on the weekday results word of mouth hasn’t been great. Let’s predict a 54 percent dip and move on.
Prediction: $16.36 million
In the enviable position of being the only real family choice on the board. But $120m worldwide on a production budget of $135m means there’s still a lot of work to do.
Prediction: $15.37 million
Fandango was offering $6 tickets for The Lincoln Lawyer through Groupon. That’s a smart move, because courtroom films tend to be a tough draw, though I’m personally a big fan.
Prediction: $14.4 million
5. Paul
Positive: They’ve already cleared $25m internationally. Negative: It’s not on the level of Hot Fuzz or Shaun of the Dead.
Prediction: $12.15 million
It only cost $42m to make … but Twilight cost $5m less and will outearn Red Riding Hood by a factor of ten.
Prediction: $7.42 million
Five of the top seven films slant toward the male demo, but at least this one has a love angle.
Prediction: $5.76 million
Someone out there said “Sure, we’ll spend $150m to produce this.” Astonishing.
Prediction: $3.8 million
Still, I hope Jason Sudeikis is heard from again.
Prediction: $3.02 million
Hey, the other Alex Pettyfer film (I Am Number Four) is at $108m on a production budget of $60m. If I buy the DVD, can I get a sequel?
Prediction: $2.8 million

By my estimation there are five films that could win the weekend, so predict away dear commenters. I’ll be checking in and Brad will be back on Sunday to wrap the weekend up.
