Release Dates Announced for ‘G.I. Joe 2,’ ‘Ides of March’ and ‘Resident Evil 5’

Several new release dates have been announced recently. So, for those of you that haven’t yet caught on to the fact I include all the latest release date changes and movie updates on the homepage as well as at the movie database homepage as soon as the database is updated, I felt I would let you know about that here as well as do a quick roundup. Let’s get to it:

G.I. Joe 2 is releasing on August 10, 2012. Jon Chu (Step Up 3D) was recently named the director filling in for Stephen Sommers. Rachel Nichols, who starred as Scarlett in the first film, revealed on Twitter she wouldn’t be returning for the next film. The only returning characters, according to her tweet, will be Snake Eyes (Ray Park), Storm Shadow (Lee Byung-hun) and Duke (Channing Tatum). I would be surprised if Dennis Quaid doesn’t return as Hawk, especially after already expressing interest in returning to the franchise after the first film was released.

Resident Evil 5 is releasing on September 14, 2012. Despite not yet having a confirmed director, this one already has a release date. So far, all that’s known is Milla Jovovich will be returning for a fifth time as the franchise lead, Alice.

The Ides of March is releasing on October 14, 2011. George Clooney will star and direct in this film, which he co-wrote with Grant Heslov based on “Farragut North,” which is loosely based on playwright Beau Willimon’s experience on Howard Dean’s 2004 Democratic primary run.

So there you have it, and remember, always check out the homepage and movie database homepage daily for continued updates to the films in the RopeofSilicon database.
