‘Shrek’ Franchise Continues with ‘Puss in Boots’ Teaser Trailer

The fourth Shrek film was the lowest grossing of the franchise to date and it still made just shy of $750 million worldwide. So even though it seems Dreamworks has shuttered the Shrek films for good they aren’t closing the door on the franchise as they are preparing to release Puss in Boots on November 4 with Antonio Banderas returning to voice the swashbuckling feline.

The film centers on Puss’s early adventures as he teams with Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) and Kitty (Salma Hayek) to steal the famed Goose that lays the Golden Eggs. The voice cast also includes Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris.

I have no way of gauging just how interested people will be in this film since I did not like Shrek 2, loathed Shrek the Third and didn’t even go see Shrek Forever After. So obviously I am not the demographic. However, I will admit I thought the first Shrek film was quite impressive so if they can somehow recapture whatever it was that made that film feel fresh rather than the tired rehashes the three follow-ups were then maybe there will be something to this, but I’m not putting any hope on it.
