‘The Black Mamba’, Kobe Bryant’s Nike Basketball Short Film is Here

I haven’t been posting the few trailers for the Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) short film Black Mamba, which he directed for Nike and features Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant. I just decided to wait until the full short arrived, and fittingly enough here it is on NBA All Star weekend.

The short has a total grindhouse-Machete feel and runs just over five-and-a-half minutes. The concept is a film-within-a-film as Rodriguez pitches Bryant a movie idea with him as the Black Mamba (Bryant’s NBA nickname) and his goal is to protect his shoes against all comers. His first battle is against The Crippler (Danny Trejo), then it’s Mister Suave (Bruce Willis) and at the head of the snake is Kanye West as The Boss at which point it turns into something of a zombiefied Space Jam with the Black Mamba versus the Monstars.

It’s mildly amusing, give it a look below.
