To go along with all the other new images Universal just released in their 2011 preview, one was our first peek at Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) as she spits out a burst of fire from her flamethrower in The Thing.
Winstead plays paleontologist Kate Lloyd who’s just arrived in Antarctica to join a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago. But it is about to wake up. Paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet.
The film is set for an October 14 release and co-stars Joel Edgerton, Eric Christian Olsen and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agabaje. Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. directs.
