A new featurette for Universal Pictures’ Public Enemies has arrived online featuring footage from the film coupled with interview commentary with director Michael Mann and stars Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. The film is set to hit theaters on July 1 and is certain to be a summer must-see, but may in fact prove to be a film to watch out for come awards season.
Michael Mann (Heat, Collateral) penned the script based on Brian Burrough’s nonfiction book “Public Enemies: America’s Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34” Public Enemies is set during the great crime wave of 1933-34, when the government’s attempts to stop Depression-era criminal legends such as John Dillilnger (Depp), Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd transformed J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI into the country’s first federal police force.
