I don’t care at all about the casting of Lindsay Lohan, primarily because this really could be an interesting film. E! Online is reporting that Lohan is set to star as Nancy Pitman, once a loyal member of Charles Manson’s not-so-merry band, in the movie Manson Girls. The news for the previously unheard of film was confirmed by the film’s producer Brad Wyman of Junction Films.
The story on Pitman is detailed by E! saying she grew up in wealthy household in Malibu, and at 16 she was introduced to Manson by a friend, according to published reports. She fell under his spell, moving in with him and becoming one of his most ardent followers. She was home with Manson on the night he dispatched members of his ‘Family’ to the former home of ex-business associate Terry Melcher, where they ended up brutally killing actress Sharon Tate and four others.
Pitman, aka Brenda McCann, later became involved with the Aryan Brotherhood and served 18 months in prison after being convicted of being an accessory after the fact to murder. She later married one of her coconspirators, divorced and moved to Oregon with her two children.
E! doesn’t give any indication on plotline or director, but I can only assume that since the title is Manson Girls Lindsay’s character won’t be the sole focus of the film. I can only guess at this, but I assume Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Leslie Van Houten will also be real life individuals depicted in the film. Those three are actually still in jail despite the fact that they have been there for nearly 40 years and have had multiple parole hearings.
Manson and his lunatic ‘Family’ have always interested me and if the casting is done right i really think this could be a kick ass feature.
