#1 movie predicted correctly: 4 Weeks in a Row
1. Semi-Pro
It’s another easy weekend as Hollywood has chosen to release exactly one new movie to 3000 theaters. That’s this one. The only drama is that Semi-Pro could have a huge weekend ($35m ish) or it could falter a bit from the R rating and Ferrell fatigue. Other than that it’s snore city around here.
Estimate: $24.9 million
If you’ve seen this you now know the big secret: That it’s lame.
Estimate: $12.0 million
Welcome back to the show No Country! This is a worthy movie for everyone to check out who hasn’t seen it. Oscar wouldn’t steer you wrong.
Estimate: $9.7 million
The other major releases this week? The Other Boleyn Girl and Penelope. Both are getting around 1000 theaters. It’s almost as if the studios hate us. Have we wronged you guys? Are you on vacation until May?
Estimate: $8.7 million
5. Jumper
B-Luv broke down howterrible this was in a big way last week. Kusos to him. Negative kudos to whoever funds the second portion of this shoddy franchise.
Estimate: $6.3 million
The third one is going to be in 3-D? That seems like an awful lot of work when plain old 2-D was pretty impressive. What exactly will that third dimension add? More form fitting shirts for Briana Evigan? If so I’m on board.
Estimate: $5.1 million
It’s sort of sad that Portman and Scarlett got together for this. Why not a real movie girls? That’s not completely fair as I’ve heard the movie is average… what I’m saying is that something in a more modern form would have highlighted their skills a bit better.
Estimate: $5.1 million
8. Penelope
I can’t imagine one good reason to see this. Ricci with a pig nose? Really?
Estimate: $5.1 million
9. Fool’s Gold
I’m just really looking forward to Fool’s Gold 2: Even More Foolishness!. In this one Kate and Matt would have to brave a twister to find the lost treasure of Alhambra. Or something.
Estimate: $3.3 million
Juno is in the running for the tenth slot but I’m betting that everyone has already seen it. There mathematically can’t be anyone left. Plus it only won that one little Oscar. No more momentum for you!
Estimate: $2.6 million
