UPDATE: Geez, no sooner than I publish this article is Robert over at IESB emailing me to tell me the shit ain’t true. I called it a rumor and for the ten or so readers that had a chance to read it before I updated it please come back and learn it isn’t true.
In their article they say West isn’t even on the short list.
Latino Review has posted a brief rumor saying that Dominic West appears to be the frontrunner to play the part of the villain Destro in Stephen Sommer’s G.I. Joe. You may remember West from 300, you know, the “You aren’t going to like this” dude. Apparently he is also on the latest season of “The Wire”, which I am waiting for Laremy to finish up so I can see what all the fuss is about.
Who is Destro? Some of you may be asking. I just remember him as the right hand man to the Cobra Commander and the fact that he had a silvery metal head. Latino Review posted a description of the character, and I too will leave you with that:
DESTRO is the faceless power behind Military Armaments Research System, the largest manufacturer of state-of-the-art weaponry. To DESTRO, war is man’s most natural state: the fittest survive and the greatest technological advances are made. He maintains a luxurious lifestyle around the world. DESTRO provides high-tech arms to any side able to meet his price and will incite war where it does not exist. He dons his silver battle mask (a family tradition) and enters battle himself, either with COBRA Command (DESTRO is their major weapons supplier) or against them if it’s better for business.
DESTRO respects the G.I. JOE team for their combat skills and expertise, but abhors them for wasting such skills to maintain peace. He’s totally dedicated to seeing them undermined, subverted, or destroyed!
