Peter Sarsgaard and Vera Farmiga are set to star in Jaume Collet-Serra’s Orphan for Joel Silver’s Dark Castle Entertainment with Warner Bros. set to distribute.
The film, which begins shooting next week, will be Serra’s follow-up to his remake of House of Wax and revolves around a husband and wife (Sarsgaard and Farmiga) who lose a baby and then adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she claims to be.
Shooting is set to take place in Toronto and Montreal. Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way, which developed the material and brought it to Silver, is also producing. David Leslie Johnson penned the script based on a story by Alex Mace.
Personally I actually enjoyed House of Wax, I thought Serra and his director of photography, Stephen Windon, put together a rather creepy story. I mention Windon, because I really enjoyed the cinematography of the film and thought it brought a unique atmosphere that worked particularly well with the story.
