Kevin Smith has been pretty much M.I.A. as of late. Sure he has a small role in Southland Tales, popped up in Die Hard 4 and had a role in Catch and Release, but as far as directing goes things have been slow. Of course, I never ended up seeing Clerks II, primarily because I didn’t want to ruin my love of the first film, but before that all we have is Jersey Girl in 2004. Not a lot to go by from a director I really enjoy.
Well, hang up all the skepticism, Smith is back with a film that has already caught my attention as he has lined up Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks to star in Zack and Miri Make a Porno. In the film two platonic friends (Rogen and Banks) discover feelings for each other while trying to earn some cash by making an X-rated video.
The news comes via USA Today in which Smith said, “It’s very much a love story… Zack and Miri just want to make a good old-fashioned dirty movie.”
Word is that the awkwardness of the circumstance and the characters’ unsexiness fuel the jokes. I don’t know about “unsexiness” unless he plans on toning Banks way down… Check out this pic from her recent GQ spread… No toning that down… Click here for the rest of the spread.
