If Michael Cera can continue to find the roles that fit his style, the way Superbad and “Arrested Development” did, he is going to be huge. An example of another “Arrested Development” alum not being able to move on from his unforgettable “AD” role is Will Arnett, he was fantastic as Job and all he manages after that are films like Let’s Go to Prison and Brothers Solomon. What a waste.
However Cera landed a role in the highly talked about Jason Reitman flick Juno and is now set to star alongside Kat Dennings in Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist for Sony Pictures with Peter Sollett set to direct.
Lorene Scafaria penned the script, which is based on the novel by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, which revolves around two bridge-and-tunnel teenagers, nursing broken hearts, who fall in love during one sleepless night in New York while searching for their favorite band’s unannounced show. Unfortunately Lorene Scafaria’s track record isn’t huge so I am not sure what the dialogue will be like in this flick, but if they nail it this could be fantastic.
Mandate has scheduled production to begin late this year.
