JoBlo is reporting via Newfoundland based movie website Moviereporter.nl that Black Book and Valkyrie actress Carice van Houten is going to continue her upward climb amongst the ranks of Hollywood leading men. She pretty much hit the big time with Valkyrie as she stars opposite Tom Cruise in the Bryan Singer helmed WWII drama, but following that up with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jude Law ain’t too shabby.
Moviereporter tells us that Van Houten will fly to Morocco next week to begin work on Body of Lies as the spouse of DiCaprio’s character for director Ridley Scott. Russell Crowe also stars in the feature in which DiCaprio plays an ex-journalist-turned CIA agent who’s sent to Amman to work with Jordan’s intelligence chief to track an Al Qaeda leader rumored to be planning attacks against America. Following that role she will move on to Repossession Mambo, a film centering on Remy (Jude Law), a repo man made up of artificial organs, who receives a heart transplant. When he struggles to make the payments, he must go on the run from his former partner (Forrest Whitaker). Beth (Alice Braga) married but lost touch with Remy while he was serving in the Army. Ten years later, Beth — down on her luck and retrofitted with artificial organs — is reunited with Remy as they seek to run.
Van Houten will play Remy’s significant other.
Carice’s big break seems to have been the revealing performance she gave in Paul Verhoeven’s Black Book earlier this year. She is definitely gorgeous (see the not safe for work image montage here), but since I have not yet seen that flick I am not quite sure how accomplished she is as an actress, but it seems we will find out soon enough.
