While you are going to see plenty of ads around the site over the next few days promoting Rob Zombie‘s Halloween we will not be reviewing it since no screenings are being held in Seattle for the horror remake. However, I guess I could scour the Net for an early cut of the film that is rumored to be making the rounds, but I don’t have the time for that silly shit.
I originally thought Halloween may be able to take a stab at the #1 slot this weekend, but without reviews that would mean a major amount of word-of-mouth in two days, but the Internet leak along with the no review clause makes it look like a large Friday and a steady decline. Dimension Films however will continue to bank on Zombie as they have inked a two-picture deal with the writer-director.
The terms of the two-pic deal state that Zombie will write and direct both titles, although Dimension didn’t release any further details about the projects, including whether they would be horror films.
“We are excited about his fresh take on ‘Halloween’ and are thrilled to be expanding our relationship with him on future projects,” Dimension head honcho Bob Weinstein told Variety. “We admire Rob for all the roles he plays, both as a director and writer.”
I expect to have more news on this tomorrow as Dimension tends to hold their press releases for a little while.
