Carrey is Zemeckis’ Scrooge

Jim Carrey looks to be returning to the world of children’s Christmas stories as Empire Online has received word from one Bob Hoskins that ol’ Jim will be teaming with Robert Zemeckis to tell A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey taking on the part of Ebenezer Scrooge.

Hoskins tells the site, “[Zemeckis] is going to make A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey… He wants me to play Mr Fezziwig. He’s doing in that way he did Polar Express. You stand in a box with that funny suit on and it reads everything you do…Am I going to do it? Of course I am!”

Of course Bob is referring to the motion capture style of shooting he did with Tom Hanks in Polar Express, a technique he is also using with such stars as Angelina Jolie, Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, John Malkovich, Brendan Gleeson, Dominic Keating, Alison Lohman and Robin Wright Penn for the upcoming Beowulf for Paramount Pictures due out November 16 in conventional theaters and IMAX.

There is no word no filming or what studio will be distributing the picture.

If you ask me, you can just give me “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” and leave it at that, that is the only version of the classic Dicken’s tale that I need.
