The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Ben Stiller may be prepping to star in the comedy In Deep for DreamWorks and Red Hour. Cool as hell director Mark Romanek (more on him here) is set to helm the flick which was penned by George Beckerman. Beckerman’s script must not be perfect yet and is probably the reason Stiller hasn’t signed just yet as Steve Conrad has been brought in to do a Page One rewrite.
The story chronicles the nightmarish tale of a man who fights a parking ticket and becomes increasingly enmeshed in criminal allegations.
The honest chances this thing is going to be any good or actually get made for that matter are slim. Beckerman’s screenplay has actually been making the rounds since the 1980s! On top of that I like Romanek’s style of directing, but he is more cut out for a darker tale than some silly Ben Stiller comedy, but I guess you take work where you can get it.
